Meeting – 2023

RESOLUTIONS OF THE SCAPO VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON 6 MAY 2023

We, Members of the Southern Cameroons People’s Organisation (SCAPO), meeting on Saturday 6th May 2023, reviewed the state of the Southern Cameroons struggle and the pertinent issues that were raised at the Hudson Institute Conference of 24th April 2023 at which several international actors were present.

Having duly deliberated and taken all the facts into account, SCAPO resolved as follows:

2. Calls on the international community, especially the Western world, to live up to its commitments under the UN Charter and the universal call to end colonialism, its belief in justice, human rights and freedom for the people of the Southern Cameroons;

3. Reiterates SCAPO ‘s unflinching determination to continue pursuing the course of justice for the people of the Southern Cameroons who have been

annexed, subjugated and suppressed by French Cameroon, despite the allegation of having formed a federal union of two states equal in status with that country in 1961;

4. Adopts the option of an internationally supervised referendum, exclusively for the people of the Southern Cameroons, as the current most practical and realistic solution, to end the long-standing conflict between the Southern Cameroons and La Republique du Cameroun;

5. Calls on La Republique du Cameroun to abandon the senseless course of war and embrace a referendum for the people of the Southern Cameroons as an honourable and lasting solution to this conflict;

6. Commends the freedom fighters of the Southern Cameroons for their heroic defence of homeland and urges them to renew their strength until a just, peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict is found, which no matter how long it delays, must come;

7. Exhorts the Southern Cameroons civilian population, which is bearing the brunt of the war, to maintain their determination and iron will for freedom until their country is freed from French Cameroon domination and subjugation. This is a war you will win by your unfailing determination rather than by weapons.

8. Calls on all Southern Cameroons frontline movements to rally around the referendum option which will give our sovereign people the right at last to speak for themselves, to prevent which, French Cameroon is waging a savage war against them.
